I'm no Legolas.

It's always fun to spend time with my dad (and mom) doing the things he loves. This time, he taught Herman how to shoot a bow.

Me too...only I can't pull a 40 lb. bow, so I had to have Herman help me.

It wounded my pride...just a little.

Birthday Cake!

This was the first birthday that I've spent with my family in 9 years. And it was completely implicit that my wonderful, beautiful grandmother would bake me my favorite cake in the world - her chocolate angelfood cake.

It was so so good.

And is so so sticking to my hips now. But it was all worth it.

Wow.

So my mom was reorganizing their basement and had me go through a bunch of my old stuff. Stuffed animals. Toys. Photos.

And that's where I found these gems. Yes, that is me, age 16 or 17, sitting on a car in a poofy, frilly dress...for homecoming. Ay. The last one is at my junior prom. Ay again.

Thankfully, I am far past that phase of my life. You know, "the poofy frilly dress/bushy eyebrows" phase.

This Is Idaho

Idaho.

Very Quiet.

Very Beautiful.

We Bought a House!

As of 10.00 am this morning, Herman and I became first time home owners! The whole process was surprisingly smooth (minus trying to get insured in Florida...after last summer), and quick. Even as we walked into the house today as the owners, it still felt so surreal.

It's a great late 1950's ranch in a "highly desirable neighborhood" (according to the appraiser) that needs a lot of love, but has great potential. Over the next couple of months we plan on putting a bit of work into it. Once this blog is up and running more, I hope to have a project page that will detail all the changes we make.

I feel so grown up.

I went for it.

Yesterday, I decided to go ahead and get the red redone in my hair. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

I Love My Foofpod!

I'm absolutely loving my photo iPod.

What I'm not loving is how in only 4 months time, it has acquired so many scratches! The culprit, it turns out, is the carrying case it came with. So for the past couple months, I've been trying to find a decent case to protect it. I really don't like most of them out there...until I came across foofpod.

I loved the idea of being able to still see the prettiness that is the iPod...and just slip it in and out of a bag. The problem is that they run $20 with $15 shipping and handling (from Australia).

So I put my resourcefulness (well...not really) to the test and found one on ebay. A guy had accidently ordered 2 and it was more cost effective for him to sell it than to send it back. I got it for $11 - including shipping!

Score.

If I ever get my powerbook, I'll be getting it a foofbag...

A Night At Enzian

Enzian. This is how movies should be seen. Me, sitting on a plush purple couch, eating a delicious cheeseburger, drinking all the Coke I want, a great movie playing on the big screen.

Enzian hosted the Florida Film Festival, and Lina took me to see House of D. Written by, directed by, and starring David Duchovny.

The many lives of Dexter the Cat.

Cats can sometimes be very one dimensional.

Not so with Dexter. He almost has more personality than I have. He gets happy and sad. He knows what food he likes and doesn't like. He gets grouchy. He knows how to play hide and seek and tag. He can open doors from both sides. And he can fly.

What a cat.

I Chose the Dark Side!

With Star Wars Episode III coming out in May, the marketing frenzy has begun. M&M's has these great collector bags.

I had to have them
(only 73 more to go...and many more pounds...) to add to my random collection of Star Wars memorabilia. Although Herman pointed out that the bag quickly loses its collector status if opened.

What a dilemma.

Bloggers Block.

Yup. I'm finally jumping on the blog-wagon. Although...I actually jumped on a couple of months ago, fell asleep, and rolled off.

I definitely wonder if I'll have anything interesting to say on a regular basis. I guess this can sort of be an experiment of sorts.

We'll see what happens.
